Viscosity will unfortunately not have a booth this year, but we hope you can make it to some of our sessions!

APEX Standards That Scale: Naming, Logic, and Code Practices That Work

When working on APEX projects with many pages, features, or developers, things can get messy without clear standards. This session walks through practical, real-world practices that help keep applications consistent and easier to manage.

We’ll cover naming conventions for pages, items, buttons, and PL/SQL packages, and how to structure validations, business logic, and layouts so the app is easier to follow and scale.

We’ll also go beyond the builder, covering backend practices like writing PL/SQL APIs, organizing business logic, and working with ORDS and external web services.

You’ll see how to use version control to manage APEX exports, YAML files, and database scripts, and how to keep your Git history clean as your app evolves. We’ll also look at where AI tools can help with tasks like reviewing code, suggesting names, or even generating documentation.

We will focus on the disruptions that are causing CEOs & CIOs to drive AI faster than most are ready for including the technology itself. This talk will show you how to quickly Leverage an LLM, and use the Oracle Vector Database for Retrieval Augmented Generation using Oracle Cloud tools. Use this to search documents that you would like to vectorize and access (but, not share with the world). I'll show how to build an agent to access your private documents using RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) and the Llama LLM (on OCI - Oracle Cloud Infrastructure).
